Desktop Login Works but Lock workstation or logoff Doesn't

I can login OK with my U. R. U 4000 but after that the scanner goes dark and won't login from locked workstation or screensaver. Even if I loggoff, I still can't scan back in. Fortunately I enabled Password as well so I can get back in. Scanner works fine if I open registration and do scans there but the locked screen doesn't initialize the scanner. Also an error pops up after a time saying the fingerprint scanner is not plugged in, I can unplug it and replug it and lock screen error disappears but the scanner still doesn't initialize or take a print. Also I can get reader on after a registration scan, but when I lock station the scanner turns off and won't re-initialize.

I'm in XP SP2 and have the Fingercap drivers and desktop login 1.0.1 along with the ur.u 4000 scanner

Hello!

Check these things about your reader:

- If you are using Microsoft or DigitalPersona devices check if you have installed Fingercap. If not, check above all the information about Fingercap in the question 2.
- Check if there is installed in your PC a DigitalPersona program, such as Password Manager. DigitalPersona programs conflicts with Fingercap and cannot be installed in the same computer.
- Fingercap also conflicts with Microsoft and DigitalPersona drivers. So, if you have one of them (or both) installed in your PC, uninstall them.
- When you uninstall, you have to unplug your reader from the PC. Only after the installation is done, you can plug it.

I stated in the first post that I used the Driver from your site... I just installed the driver and the desktop login. that's it. My problem is that Digital Personna wants $80 for latest software that works on SP2 and I can get a new scanner cheaper than that! Microsoft may have locked out their scanner on purpose to get us to buy their scanners at cheaper price. Digital Personna, by passing the expense of redesigning their software on to us has apparently played right into Microsoft's hands... Alenating their end-users with such an outrageous price for for a simple update. (maybe it wasn't too simple) Either way as a VAR I thoght they might make an exception for me but after several calls and e-mails they have refused. So I came here, hoping to find a reason not to throw this reader out or sell it on Ebay. This works on logon and registration but the scanner doesn't initialize to get back in after logout, station lock, or screensaver with password. So I have to type password. This is better than nothing but just a little. Whatever code is passed to me U.R.U 4000 that starts it in registration and first logon needs to be added to the station lock and screensaver recovery module, not to mention re-login. I'm not a programmer really but I've been designing databases for more than 10 years and it seems pretty simple to me... This software doesn't fully support my U.R.U 4000 and the Desktop Identity doesn't work at all. I can't even register in that one. I tried both on two different machines. One had never seen any digital persona software. EVER.

Hello!

I was studying and, confirming what I thought, your reader (U.are.U 4000) has a bug in all Griaule programs, as in many biometric programs. Note that it doesn't happen in all the situations, as this bug is fixed in the newest version of the driver (U.are.U 4000B). Due to this reason, Griaule does not support this reader officially anymore.
