While in XP and Vista 32-bit the UareU 4500B with SDK2009 is running ok with the CapPluginFingerCap.dll, in Windows 7 x64 it doesn't runs at all. Disabling the unsigned drivers check, the reader appears as Griaule Fingercap but the SDK does not recognize it in any manner, otherwise with an old Microsoft FingerPrint Reader in runs ok. Giving some light in this area for everybody, although you continue recommending it on your web, the fingerprint reader is out of the market for ever. Here you are the confirmation from microsoft:
"Thanks for your interest in Microsoft Hardware products. The Fingerprint Reader is no longer being manufactured by Microsoft but we recognize it may still be available from retailers and resellers. The product runs on 32-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Microsoft will not be releasing any updates for the product to run on 64-bit versions of Windows XP or Windows Vista. The product is not supported on Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit). To ensure this is clear to our customers, the product will not install on Windows 7 (the user is warned that the application will not run).
If you currently use the Fingerprint Reader and are unable to use your product with 64-bit versions of Windows XP or Windows Vista or the Windows 7 beta release, please visit the following Web site for assistance: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/support/fingerprintreader.mspx. "
I have read your explanation on 4500B reader's issue (http://www.griaulebiometrics.com/page/en-us/kb/u-are-u-4500-issue) but the fact is that installing the DigitalPersona driver (SDK version 1.4.0.1 is the only available at Digital website) the reader goes on on blue but SDK2009 doesn't recognize it at all. Otherwise with the DigitalPersona sample it run's nicely. Please can you give an step by step explanation of how to install the driver from DigitalPersona and then your SDK2009 for getting the reader working in x64 environments. In the manuals are only few references to the CapPluginDPFP dll and it's not clear how to use it.
I think there are many people in this forum with the same problem with x64 operating systems, and as the microsoft reader is no longer available digitalpersona is the best option for much of us.
Thanks in advance.
