Pascual Figueroa Rivero was born in Apurimac, Peru, received his graduate studies in the specialty of Electronics and Computer Technique at Institute of Civil Aviation of Riga, Latvia (former USSR), and obtained his Vordiplom in Technical Computer Science at Technical University of Berlin, Germany. He holds an MSc and PhD (2004) from State University of Campinas. His areas of interest are Image Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Human Motion Analysis. Pascual is fluent in Spanish, German, Russian and Portuguese.

Luis Mariano Del Val Cura was born in Havana, Cuba. He received his Computer Science bachelor degree from University of Havana; and his MSc and PhD in Computer Science from State University of Campinas. His MSc Thesis is about Version Management in Databases for Geographical Information Systems, and the PhD Thesis about Content-based Image Retrieval in Geographical Information Systems. His primary interests rely on Image Processing, Computer Vision and Spatial, Geographical & Image Databases. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Research advisers

Roberto de Alencar Lotufo is a full Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, State University of Campinas. He received his PhD in 1990 from University of Bristol, UK. His main interests are in the areas of Image Processing and Analysis, Mathematical Morphology, Image Segmentation, Pattern Recognition and Medical Imaging. He is the author of 3 books, 13 periodicals articles, more than 90 published refereed works in scientific meetings and 1 pending patent. He is one of the main architects of two morphological toolboxes: MMach for Khoros, and SDC Morphology Toolbox for MATLAB.

Neucimar Jerônimo Leite received the Electrical Engineering diploma in 1985 from Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil, the M.Sc. degree from the same institution in 1988 and the Doctor degree from Université de Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie), France, in 1993. He is currently a professor at the Institute of Computing, State University of Campinas, where he directs works on Image Processing and Analysis.
