Using GrFinger Desktop Login

Logging in to Windows

GrFinger Desktop Login replaces the standard Windows login screen with a different one. It allows you to supply a registered fingerprint for automatic login or enter your username and password the usual way.

Logon screen:

At this time, you have two options:

  1. Supply a fingerprint, which starts a fingerprint-based logon.

  2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete, which starts a password-based logon.

Steps for fingerprint-based logon:

  1. At logon screen, supply a fingerprint by touching the fingerprint sensor.

  2. GrFinger Desktop Login compares the fingerprint supplied with the ones stored in its database, yielding one of these results:

    • The user matching the fingerprint supplied is found and his/her login type allows for logging in to Windows using his/her fingerprint. The user is automatically logged in to Windows.

    • The user matching the fingerprint supplied is found, but his/her login type only allows for logging in to Windows using his/her fingerprint and password. The user is automatically redirected to the standard Windows login screen, where he/she should enter his/her password.

    • The user matching the fingerprint supplied is found, but his/her login type does not allow for logging in to Windows using his/her fingerprint. The user is automatically redirected to the standard Windows login screen, where he/she should enter his/her password.

    • The user matching the fingerprint supplied is not found. An error message is shown and the program returns to the login screen.

Steps for password-based logon:

  1. At logon screen, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. The standard Windows logon screen appears.

  2. Enter your user name and password.

  3. Click on OK.

NOTE

At the password-based logon, if the user is stored in GrFinger Desktop Login database and his login type requires the use of fingerprint to log on, an error message will be shown and he will be unable to use the password-based approach to log on Windows.
